Overview
Matt is a psychologist based in Tauranga. He works with people going through some of life's harder stretches, from difficult personal circumstances to burnout, and with leaders who want their teams to be well, not just busy. His career spans frontline practice, senior clinical roles, and government policy, so he understands both the person in the room and the systems around them.
Supervision Approach
Matt's supervision starts with safety. He creates a non-judgemental space where people can say what's actually going on and work out their own next steps. He doesn't try to fit anyone into a predetermined framework. Instead, he meets each person as an individual and works with them where they are.
Skills and Experience
Matt trained as a psychologist at the University of Otago and the University of Waikato. He draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative and person-centred therapy. He has worked as a Principal Advisor in government agencies and as a Senior Psychologist, and has held governance roles.
