A different starting point

You've probably wondered for a long time.

Maybe you've pushed to keep up, masked the hard parts, and blamed yourself when things that look easy for other people took everything you had. That's exhausting, and it isn't a character flaw. It's often a brain that works differently, doing its best in a world built for someone else. Understanding how your mind works lets you stop fighting yourself, build on what you're good at, and ask for the few things that make a real difference.

How we can help

Answers, and what comes after them.

Many places give you a report and send you on your way. We do the assessment well, and we stay for the part that changes your day to day.

At work, or leading a team? If this is about your workplace, that's a different kind of help. See our neurodiversity at work services

Assessment

A thorough, neuro-affirming assessment from a registered psychologist. We diagnose ADHD and autism, and we can assess for both together in one combined assessment. You get a clear answer and a written report you can use, for work, study, and your own understanding.

Coaching and support

Knowing is the start. We then work with you on the practical side of living with your neurodivergence: focus and follow-through, energy and overwhelm, relationships, and strategies that fit how you think. This kind of affirming coaching is well evidenced, and it works by helping you set your own goals and trust yourself, rather than trying to fix you.

What to expect

A clear process, and no surprises.

An assessment with us is a conversation, not an exam. We take a careful history, use the right tools, and talk it through with you properly. You come away with a clear answer and a report that explains what it means for you, and that can support adjustments at work or study.

Why women are so often missed

Masking is why so many women go unseen.

Autistic and ADHD women are frequently identified late, or never. Many learn to mask, and the standard tools were largely built around a male presentation. So you can look fine on paper while working far harder than anyone realises just to keep up. If that's you, a low screening score isn't the end of the conversation. It's often exactly the point at which a careful assessment helps. We look at how things actually show up in your real life, including the parts you've learned to hide.

Is this for me?

You don't need to be certain to start.

People come to us at different points. Some have wondered for years, some recently saw themselves in something they read or watched, and some already have a diagnosis and want the support that never came with it.

Not sure yet? Start with a free, private self-check. Your answers stay in your browser, and it's a screening tool, not a diagnosis. A low score doesn't rule anything out, especially where traits are masked.

Who you're working with

Registered psychologists who see the whole picture.

Everyone who does this work is a registered psychologist with real experience in neurodevelopment, and we lead with your strengths. We also work with workplaces on neurodiversity, so we understand your world the way you actually live it.

We're a New Zealand practice, we respect how your whānau and your culture shape things, and your information is held privately in Aotearoa.

Common questions

What people ask us.

What's an adult ADHD or autism assessment?

An adult ADHD or autism assessment is a thorough process with a registered psychologist to work out whether you're neurodivergent and what it means for you. It involves a careful history and the right tools, and you come away with a clear answer and a written report you can use for work, study and your own understanding. We diagnose ADHD and autism, and can assess for both together.

How much does an adult ADHD or autism assessment cost, and is there a wait?

An adult ADHD or autism assessment with us costs $4,200 including GST, and there's no wait at the moment, so we can usually get started quickly. The fee covers the full assessment with a registered psychologist and your written report.

Do you diagnose ADHD and autism?

Yes. Our registered psychologists diagnose both ADHD and autism, and we can assess for both together in a combined assessment.

Are ADHD and autism assessments in person or online?

The assessment itself is done in person, at the locations where we have assessors, and usually takes one to three sessions. The coaching and support that follows can be in person or by telehealth.

Can you prescribe medication?

No. In New Zealand, medication is prescribed by a doctor, not a psychologist. We assess and diagnose, and if medication is something you want to explore, we'll refer you on to a psychiatrist, with your report to support that step.

Do you assess children for ADHD or autism?

Yes, we assess all ages, children and adults. This page is about assessments for adults; for tamariki and rangatahi, our whānau neurodiversity service supports children and their families: see Neurodiversity for whānau at /for-whanau/neurodiversity.

What if I just want strategies, not a formal diagnosis?

That's completely fine. Some people want an answer, some want practical support, and some want both. We'll help you work out what's useful for you, with no pressure to assess.

Is an ADHD or autism assessment private and confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between you and your psychologist, within the usual professional and legal limits, and your information is held securely in Aotearoa.
